We, the undersigned, who are not residents of Barriefield Village, are asking Kingston City Council to put an end to the City’s proposed housing development on Department of National Defence (DND) lands in the historic village of Barriefield as it contravenes the City’s Official Plan and the Barriefield Heritage Conservation District Plan. Instead, we ask that all DND lands in Barriefield Village be left as a green buffer to maintain the two-hundred-year-old significance of Barriefield as a unique heritage village in a rural setting. We also wish to voice our concern with respect to the way the City of Kingston is seeking to rush the development process without adequate time for consultation, study and reflection.
